Laugh-Out-Loud Cats #1852
I'm not sure if I believe this, but it was sure fun to draw.
I guess I believe it.

There's a Quonset hut group on flickr
It's here. I joined, though I've yet to submit anything to the pool.
They've got the craziest Quonset huts in there. One of 'em's art deco!

by the way this might possibly win
Since I'm doing all this blogging tonight, I might as well put in another plug for this design, which you can vote for here. It already has more votes than it did the first time around, and it appears to be staying in the fog, which is a good thing.
BUT: I've learned not to count my votes before they're defogged.
There are less than 12 hours left to vote, so tell your Inspector Spacetime loving friends, if you don't mind.

The Big Time!
Here's another project I had the pleasure of working on. It's called The Big Time, and you can read all about it here, on one of my favorite blogs, Barnacle Press.
Download it, print it, play it, and let me know what you think.

Floating RiffTrax Heads
Depending on when you're looking at this post, RiffTrax TV is currently not broadcasting, which is good, because I want to show you something.
First of all, if you're not familiar with RiffTrax, check them out here, and for heaven's sake support* the best thing that's happened to motion pictures since MST3K.
So, the thing I want to show you is the three floating heads you may or may not currently see suspended against the color bars on the RiffTrax TV image above. I drew those. From what I understand, you'll start to see them used on other RiffTrax products in the not too distant future**.
*By which I mean don't get your RiffTrax from filesharing sites. I want them to do this forever, and they can't do it for free.
**See what I did there?

this shirt's days are numbered
If you keep up with such things, you'll know this shirt is about to fall out of favor with the shirt buying public over on shirt.woot (by which I mean it will soon no longer be available*). It's had a good, long run, and I really appreciate the fact that people seem to like it a lot. It's done far better than any of the other shirts I've ever had over there, and it currently sits at the #20 spot in their best selling shirts of all time, if NarfCake is to be believed (and he is).
*It could remain available longer if the sales suddenly magically spike somehow, but I'm not so sure that will happen. They've had quite a few hot sellers in the last few weeks, what with the holidays fast approaching and all.

Laugh-Out-Loud Cats #1850
This was drawn while riding an actual train this evening, though not a boxcar. It's far too cold for that. I can assure you that all of the wiggliness and shakey lines are the result of actual uneven rails.
Also, regarding the previous post: I don't wish to sound ungrateful, especially at this time of year! I'm extremely thankful to the hundreds of you kind folks who took a moment to vote for last week's design. Perhaps the 7 deadly sins will live on in some other media. Time will tell.

this design is up for a revote
...along with two others. I won't link to the other two, because this one is doing the best of the three, for reasons that should be obvious to people who travel in certain fanatical circles.
Here's the link: CLICK HERE TO VOTE, though I wouldn't be too surprised if this doesn't win. Not to get all Eeyore on you, but last week's loss took the wind right out of my sails.
Speaking of wind, thanks for all the well wishes and notes of concern regarding our epic wind event of a few days ago. All are fine here, and the town is looking 90% better after a full weekend of fallen tree removal.
Meanwhile, I'll be posting about a few more things this week, as time allows. There are lots of projects I've been working on that are finally coming to fruition.

Here is a repeat for tonight...
...because we had a horrible wind storm today. All are safe and hopefully things will be back to full speed by tomorrow.
In the off chance I won this week's woof derby, and I'm not awake to blog about it, check out shirt.woot.com at 11pm mountain time.
Also: some of my "close but no cigar" entries will be up for revote in tomorrow's second chance derby. More details as things develop! Thanks!

You can vote for this here. If you really like it and think it should win, be sure to tell your friends via the social media outlet of your choice, or maybe even in person.
Thanks!

To be, etc...
Here's how the previously blogged shirt turned out. It looks great in person, if you can call a shirt a person. I can't wait to wear it to England if I ever go there.
This shirt continues to do well in the derby, but not, in all likelihood, well enough to win. But that's okay, I really appreciate the votes. That goes for all 512 of you and counting. Thanks for taking the time to show you liked something I did.
I've been saying thanks quite a bit around here lately because it seems like I don't say it enough. Either way, tis the season.
A couple of things to look out for:
Last night I helped make a music video for a band I think you'll enjoy. They're called Zip Zip Through the Night. The video will be released next year, and I'll be sure to tell you all about it once it drops. (That's a music industry verb. Drops.)
Also, if you haven't picked up John Hodgman's final book of complete world knowledge, entitled THAT IS ALL, you should. I have some drawings in it, one of which I drew after it was discovered that the people of twitter were of no help whatsoever in providing the desired image. If you have the book, check page 658. You could also delve into the tweet history of either Hodgman or mine to discover when the hive mind failed. It was a few months ago, and everyone involved is still surprised the internet does not contain everything just yet.
There are several more things I'm excited to tell you about, but they remain secrets at this point. Not deadly secrets, just regular secrets.

a final note this evening
About a year ago over on flickr, Sig commented on this comic, and it's stuck with me:
"You know, I haven't gone back through to confirm, but seriously, I don't remember you drawing comics like this when you lived in Florida."
It's true! I never really had to think about snow in Florida, but now that I'm hip deep* in wintery climes, expect to see more of the white stuff depicted herein, and usually in a derisive manner.
*it's not hip deep yet, and better not become so if it knows what's good for it. Snow I mean.

a brief follow up...
Thanks to everyone who bought the aforementioned shirt. It did really, really well, and I'm grateful. It's still available for $15, and will be available till it falls out of favor with the shirt buying public.
The longest run I've had on a shirt at woot is my table of elements shirt, which is still available, but looks to be dropping in the rankings just as it's about to hit 10,000 sold. I've yet to see one of them in the wild, so maybe it's just one guy buying them all. Thanks whoever you are!
I won't mention which shirt of mine has performed the poorest on woot. I don't want to hurt its feelings.
Meanwhile, thanks for the rally of votes on the design seen above. It's not likely to win, but it's the thought that counts. Maybe I should have included 6604 5508, though he's not a bird.
There are lots of exciting hobo cat, and shirt, and otherwise interesting things coming up, and I'll do my best to keep you posted. Thanks again!

Laugh-Out-Loud Cats #1837
Mea culpa! I forgot to post this one here the other night in all the excitement of whatever it was I was doing!
This would be a good time to mention how much I appreciate your comments and thoughtful notes. It's only a couple of days till Thanksgiving here in the states, so I'm starting in now on the gratefulness.

that is the question
I don't usually post anything so late at night, sorry to wake you. (I'm assuming you've subscribed to my blog via an RSS feed which in turn rings a bell or flashes a light whenever I post an update. I could be wrong. Such things might not even exist.)
Anyway, I have a shirt up for sale on shirt.woot tonight. Here's the link. It's $10 for 24 hours, unless it sells out. If it sells out, it'll be for sale for $15 starting at 11pm Mountain time. (I capitalize the M in Mountain time because then it looks more like mountains than a lowercase m.)
The shirt in question has the image seen above printed right on it!
Also, if you do decide to purchase this, would you be so kind as to vote for one of the designs I've got posted in the derby this week? This one has a better chance than the other. I'll totally understand if you don't want to vote for it. It's pretty juvenile, and not at all something children should be wearing to math classes or calculator school.
Again, sorry to wake you. Thank you for your time and your continued support. I realize most of you don't come here to see skulls and read pleas for votes, but supporting these things supports the other things I do. Like those hobo cats. WHAT SORT OF TROUBLE WILL THEY GET INTO NEXT?

Wrong box, doc.
*It's currently "in the fog", which means it's in the top nine. This doesn't mean it is guaranteed to print, but it has a better chance than it did yesterday. Please keep sharing it with your wooting or WHOing friends, in case they'd like to vote for and wear it in time for Thanksgiving. I understand some television stations broadcast TV show marathons on Thanksgiving. When I was a kid it was Twilight Zone on KTLA. It was fun till they played the longer episodes.
**In order to vote, you need to have made at least one purchase on any of the woot sites (woot.com, shirt.woot.com, wine.woot.com, someotherthing.woot.com, etc). If you have made a woot purchase in the past, and you are logged into the site, there will be a very small tab above the upper left corner of the image which reads "I'D WANT ONE". Click that! That's voting!
Sorry. I know I repeat this process a lot. It's my most F A'ed Q! Well, that and "what kind of pen*** do you use?"
***A: I'm quite fond of the Kuretake FUDEGOKOCHI, available from jetpens.com.
UPDATE=Sorry for the messed up formatting. This happens every single time I post a very long entry on this blog. Me and my cumbersome fingers!

The Daily Show
Here is a screen capture of one of the four drawings I did for John Hodgman's segment on the November 1st episode of the Daily Show. If you'd like to see the rest, and in context, visit the archives on thedailyshow.com.
Also here's a drawing of John Hodgman as one of the original Clue characters, which I drew for no real purpose or television show.
