#300 is still under construction and will be posted sometime next week.
Meanwhile, check out these miniature folders for sale at the Boring Store. Click on the picture, which I found while searching for the tag "top secret" on flickr.

Update on orders

If you ordered a Laugh-Out-Loud Cats comic prior to the 13th, it's on the way to your fuzzy little paws via US Mail. There are about 19 left in the queue, and they should be done by the middle of next week. I'll also be working on all of the pending critters (and Neatorama contest winners) early next week, so keep an eye out. Also: #300 is on the drawing board, though in a very preliminary stage.
Thank you all very, very much.

No, not the movie, the 300th installment of the Laugh-Out-Loud Cats. It's coming soon.
For those who missed the post last week about #300, It'll be the same deal as #200: full color, full page, posted on ebay.
Watch this space.

I'm going to draw the Marvel Universe.

Well, maybe not all of it. And not all in one day. Also, my kids will help.
I've added this new set to flickr. I'll be posting drawings of Marvel superheroes there from time to time in a variety of styles and settings, as is my wont. Maybe even some full blown comics.

I Was Born A Unicorn

I post this in answer to the question of whether or not I like anything created post 1960.
The answer is yes.

Movie of the Week: Vera Cruz

"And some came alone--the hoboes."
I've been watching this film in bits and pieces this week. So far so good. Some of the accents are obviously fake, and Gary Cooper's a bit wooden, but that's to be expected.
Am I the only one who turns off the color when the technicolor is too garrish? Try it sometime. The people who photographed these movies had lots of experience making black and white films look beautiful, so it should come as no surprise that when you turn the color off things really "pop". Besides, did Maximilian really wear bright reds and greens? It also helps when the film has obviously not been restored. The colors you see on an unrestored dvd are not the colors that are supposed to be there.
Also noteworthy about this film: Burt Lancaster's costume during the caravan scenes is really close to Han Solo's in A New Hope.

Steal this day

It's time to claim this day for hoboes by talking like a hobo. Here's a glossary you may refer to as you begin this magical vocabulatory journey.

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre trailer

One of my favorite movies, it features Humphrey Bogart as a hobo. A filthy, greedy, evil hobo. I won't spoil it for anyone, but his undoing is particularly shocking if you watch closely. Look for the splash.

Regarding the upcoming 300th comic

Leaves
Originally uploaded by prb.

As mentioned previously, every 100th installment of the Laugh-Out-Loud Cats will be a full page, full color strip to be posted on ebay.
#300 is coming up in the next couple of weeks (most likely by the end of the month), and will include the following:
More Pip than Kitteh.
Leafs will play a prominent role in the strip.
An homage to Winsor McCay, if I can pull it off.
and
Hammerspace.

Hopefully that is enough to keep you guessing.
More comics later today.

Astronaut application form

If you did not catch the reference in the previous post, drop what you are doing and watch the Jerk again. It's very funny and has been quoted in my home on a regular basis for the past twelve years. My wife and I met Carl Reiner once and completely forgot to mention the Jerk when we spoke to him.
Also, regarding the previous post, NASA really does have a facility in the Cleveland area.

A trunk full of tiny coffins

Len Peralta, fellow cartoonist and monsterbymail.com mastermind, has a new project for Halloween. Check it out at monsterbymail.com and then head over to ebay to bid on your very own box of thrills.
FUN FACT: I met Len about a year ago and he showed me around his hometown of Lakewood Ohio. I was there to interview for a job I didn't get. That's right, NASA rejected my astronaut application form.
