significance aside, baby seems to be small human version of Kitteh! stogee and hat.

Watched both videos referenced. My opinion on this one is, un-funny.

The kid with the stogie is a riot however.

The baby reminds me somehow of Walt Kelly's three bats - Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered...however, the humour in this new meme completely escapes me :)

was coinkidentally 25th anniversary of GNU, which lead to Linux.

so perhaps baby is hacker!

but still too young to be smoking and hitching rides on boxcars.

unfunny meme is pointless.

If it was funny, it wouldn't be pointless. And if it had a point, well, where's the point in that?

What's the baby using? 25. This is just true by definition.

Here's the "funny" part, if you need one. If you look about on other pages where people have posted the question, "What's the baby using?" There are a bevy of answers from people who don't know it's "25."

The answers tend to be violent or inappropriate. "The baby is using LSD." "A bazooka." The question is open ended and leaves us imagining a world of things the baby MIGHT be using, many of which are unsavory. Even here, the baby is smoking a cigar. Because babies doing inappropriate things, that's funny

But then the answer is completely and totally innocuous. 25. It's just a number. Not even an interesting number. Just a plain, square number. It's a non sequitur. Absolutely meaningless.

Is that where the funny is? No.

The funny, if there is one, (and I insist that not only isn't there a funny, but if it has to be funny then it's not pointless and the pointlessness of "What's the baby using?" is the WHOLE point) then funny is that once you know the answer is "25" you aren't confused by the question. You are somehow comforted by it, because you are on the INSIDE of the joke.

It's Dada. It's Cryptomemetics, a meme that spreads because it's pointless and we don't understand it.

It doesn't make sense because it's not supposed to make sense. It's not funny because it's not supposed to be funny. It just IS.

It's like a Zen Koan. Except that there's no enlightenment at the end of this puzzle. It's not even a puzzle. Just an arbitrary question with a non-sequitur answer as it's defined resolution.
