Originally uploaded by austinevan.
Thanks to everyone who has ordered the book! It's quite possible the unsigned copies directly from lulu will be showing up on people's doorsteps as early as tomorrow. Who will be the first to get one? Will it be you!?!?!

Laugh-Out-Loud Cats #734 (and note)

Laugh-Out-Loud Cats #734
Originally uploaded by Ape Lad.
Thanks to everyone who has ordered a book! If I haven't responded to your notes and comments and requests yet, I'll try to within the next couple of days. I'll also be sure to keep everyone posted as the books arrive and start to get sent.
Some orderers have not been able to make notes on paypal for some reason, so feel free to email me with questions and stuff.
Thanks again, the Laugh-Out-Loud Cats would not exist without good people like you!
Also, if you have ordered a comic or fan club membership, my plan is to have them in the mail by the end of the month.
Hedgehogs
This week I've learned something: people love hedgehogs. The three comics I've posted which show hedgehogs have generated near immediate email responses requesting the original. If someone out there is looking for a way to make money as a cartoonist, the answer is in hedgehogs.
I'm not sure how I feel about them being used to shill financial services.
Darkmatter
I like this song. The original is by Andrew Bird, if you didn't know. This cover is by MsPennyCandy, which I hope is her real name.

South Carolina
The proof copy of the book, according to UPS, in in South Carolina. I could have it in my hands tomorrow, and if I do, I'll be sure to post about it, good or bad.
Meanwhile, I think I'll be slowing down to posting one comic a day for a bit as things ramp up to selling the book. We'll see.
If you've ordered a comic, my plan is to have everything in the mail by the end of the month at the very latest. Several went out today, so keep checking your mailbox. I recommend once an hour.
Meanwhile, enjoy one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite multiple-patent holders.
Neatorama Shirt Poll

Alex of Neatorama fame asked me to design a t-shirt for the site. So I drew 4 and suggested he let the readers decide which they like the best. You can vote here. I won't tell you which is my favorite.
If you aren't already reading Neatorama, you really should.

Meet the Laugh-Out-Loud Cats
Originally uploaded by Ape Lad.
The proof copy of Meet the Laugh-Out-Loud Cats should be in my hands within the week. It's pocket sized (for your convenience) and is jam packed with comics and new drawings. It also includes some notes and thoughts from Pappy himself as well as a leaf or two.
My goal is to have it available by the end of the month and things seem to be heading that way. I'm also working on a system to do signed copies. I'll keep you posted as I figure stuff out.
Meanwhile, my monitor is on the fritz. I may have found a new one through craigslist, but comics won't be posted till such things are resolved---most likely late tonight.
At the moment I can't see the top half of the screen. Or should I say I can only see the bottom half of the screen. I try to remain optimistic about such things.

I'll be selling a limited number of signed copies too for a bit more.
More info as I get closer to print.

I do read them all and I do thank you all.

Seven Things

Seven
Originally uploaded by Kevin.
As you may have seen in the comments, I have been tagged with the seven things thing. I don't usually do this, but here are seven things you don't know about me. Or maybe you do. Some of these I may have mentioned before.
1. I once took a lie detector test and successfully lied. It was nothing nefarious, but part of a university sponsored study where participants got $40 for taking the test.
2. I once got lost in the mountains of New Mexico with a couple of other Boy Scouts.
3. I went to the same high school as Jackson Pollock (technically speaking. He didn't live in Riverside (the town I grew up in) long, but while he was there the high school he attended eventually evolved into the one I went to, even though the campus had moved by then. But still.)
4. I don't have/want cable or satellite tv. Just rabbit ears.
5. My actual grandfather was an actual hobo for a Summer long ago. I think I've mentioned that here before, but it bears repeating.
6. My wife and I lived in Burbank for a little over a year right after we got married. We loved it there. She worked as a temp at a major movie studio and wandered around like she owned the place, often sneaking on to movie sets and meeting random celebrities. I worked as a temp for a medical management company in Canoga Park and loathe nearly everything about the health insurance industry as a result. Also, given the opportunity, I would happily return to California.
7. I have a friend from high school who still calls me on a regular basis from work and has for the past 10 years or so.
I have tagged seven other people with this thing, but will not mention who they are here even though I'm probably supposed to.

Seasick Steve - Hobo Low
Thank you, Jim, for bringing Seasick Steve to my attention. You can find more of his songs on youtube.
Also, to answer a question from the comments, yes, there will be days with more than one comic. Today just might be one of those days. There will be at least one for sure.
