Comics are once again available for sale
Here is a list of frequently asked questions regarding the sale and distribution of Laugh-Out-Loud Cats comics:
If I order a comic, can I request what you put in it?
Sure! You can, but you don't have to. Lots of comics in the archives are the result of requests, though most aren't. There's a place on the paypal checkout to make a note, but if you don't see it you can email me. You can also request a cameo by a previously established character.
Also, I try to keep things on a "general audience" level (though if depictions of duck-hating, thievery, vandalization, loitering, and true tales of prison life offend you, you may want to click away. Also, I tend to glorify cigar smoking to a certain degree).
Do you smoke cigars?
No.
If I order a comic, how long will it take to get to me?
Generally a couple of weeks, though once in a while it can take longer if there's a backlog or other projects I'm up to my elbows in. If you have to have one right away (as a gift or something), I can usually make an exception. Again, feel free to email.
Why isn't the comic you sent me in the archive?
There are several reasons this may happen from time to time. One: I only post one or two a day now, so usually there are a bunch waiting to be posted. Two: I can't tell you the second reason at the moment.
Do you send comics outside North America?
Yes, at no extra charge.
When I buy a comic, do I own the copyright?
No, but you can post any of the comics on your blog or website (as long as you link back to this blog somewhere). You can also use them for buddy icons or avatars and such.
What's with the picture of Edmund and Regan?
I dunno. I found it in the creative commons pool on flickr.
I have a question but I can't think of it at the moment.
Go ahead and post it in the comments.
Are you grateful for my support?
Yes. Yes I am.
(No one's actually asked that last one.)

Special thanks to Andrew for the idea.

Laugh-Out-Loud Cats #766 again
I'm testing out a new template here. There may be a few more adjustments on the way. I shoulda started posting these larger long ago.

This one was a special request. The lands of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Hobotopia come crashing together.
In the coming days, you may expect:
The return of comics being available for sale (now at twice the price... KIDDING!) I'll also have a sort of primer on the whole process for those who are new 'round here or who may have emailed me (I've been meaning to get back with you, really I have).
Your book. If you ordered a signed one.
Some slight redesigns to the blog here and there. Maybe a new template. I dunno. We'll see.
Also some more experimental installments. If I have the time.
Thank you.

fling! whizz! bonk! An announcement.
Onomatopedia.com
Originally uploaded by Ape Lad.
Earlier today on twitter I was making some attempts at wit in regards to wikipedia (for the record, wackypedia.com and wikipediatrician.com are both unavailable). A couple of comments later, cartoonist Pat Lewis sez: "Not sure if you're interested, but onomatopoedia.com is still available."
That got me thinking, and a few hours later (and your standard Web 2.0 letter removal) onomatopedia is here. It's based on the same sort of thing I've been doing here: drawing pictures in exchange for money. There may or may not be hoboes. We'll see.
There will be some samples in the coming days, and I certainly don't think anyone should order anything before then.
This has no effect on either Kitteh or Pip. Clyde seemed upset about it though.

Laugh-Out-Loud Cats #761 and another note regarding books
Laugh-Out-Loud Cats #761
Originally uploaded by Ape Lad.
All signed books are in the mail, to points both foreign and domestic.
Please note: some of you may receive more than one in the mail. This is my error and I accept full responsibility for it.
If you do receive an accidental second copy, here are your options:
Give away one of them. Perhaps as a gift.
Or maybe you can frame it, though I don't recommend this option.
You could also bury one as a gift to future residents of your community. A time capsule, if you will. Please be sure to encase it in concrete prior to burial and notify your local department of records as to when it should be unearthed. You might want to throw some other stuff in there too. Avoid perishables.
Another thing to consider: if you haven't received your book within about a week or so (the "or so" especially applies to books sent outside North America), do not hesitate to email me. Thank you.

I'm still busily inscribing books and sending them.
HOWEVER, it was brought to my attention this morning that all post offices are closed so that we may all remember our dear departed presidents of days past. Pour a flask on the curb in memory of Harding (perhaps the worst of them all), or maybe Buchanan (who some speculate was our first homosexual president. Google it), or perhaps big fat William Howard Taft, who was given a special chair when he visited the Mission Inn in Riverside, California. He didn't appreciate it.

Drawn for someone who wanted a reference to Canada, and before you present me with evidence regarding the origin of the flag depicted, please keep one thing in mind: wormholes*. Thank you.
It's also a good excuse for the resolution of yesterday's comic, for those of you seeking closure.

If you haven't marked your calendar by now, I have failed. Also, there seemed to be a need for closure on Friday's adrift comic.
Many, many books have gone out in the past day, and will continue to go out through the coming days. Please keep in mind, mail does move on Sunday. Those guys never sleep.

Someone requested a reference to Kurt Vonnegut, and there are many that can be made, but I felt this one fit Kitteh particularly well.
Have I mentioned Kitteh has a secret? It's not at all similar to Pip's, but equally intriguing. I suppose I'll have to reveal it at some point, now that I've mentioned it.

Stew Pot: a board game you can print and play
Stew Pot: The Laugh-Out-Loud Cats board game
Originally uploaded by Ape Lad.
HOW TO PLAY Stew Pot
(Guaranteed to frustrate)
Step one: click on the image, click on "all sizes" on flickr, and print it.
You will need:
2 or more players
1 six-sided die
a place marker for each player
Game play:
The player who rolls highest goes first. If there are more than 2 players, order proceeds clockwise.
Roll die and move ahead. Move or roll if prompted to, but do not follow instructions on the new space where you end up. Stay there till your next turn.
If you land on a stew ingredient, move your marker to the Stew Pot.
There are 2 ways to get out of the Stew Pot:
1. Only one player can be in the Stew Pot at a time. If you are stuck there, trade places when another player lands on any ingredient.
or
2. If you or another player rolls a 3, move your marker to the space marked lol. Players continue to take their turn from the stew pot, but can only be moved if they roll a 3.
The player who reaches "end" first wins.
Feel free to comment below if there are any bugs or unforeseen glitches. I've played several times now and it is very aggravating. Enjoy!
Also, if you enjoyed playing the game, consider dropping a dollar in the pot via the paypal button on the right sidebar. This is not required or even expected, but I thought it would be a tad more classy than a simple "donate" button.
Thanks for your continued support, comments, and stuff.

The last few comics and fan club memberships ordered in January are in the mail. This includes the one with the mythical winged creature, the two with references to other countries, and the secret Valentine's Day orders.
I have a pretty deep backlog, but will continue to post only one a day (usually) to clear up my schedule for signing and sending the books.
If I had adopted a one a day policy from the beginning, we'd only be at number 240 or so. Weird, huh?

2 of my entries in the Eustace Tilley contest will be featured on NewYorker.com this Monday! One will even be published in the magazine.
I have a subscription to the New Yorker but, in spite of the notices in the magazine, I had no idea about the contest till I saw it posted on BoingBoing. So, once again, I have BoingBoing to thank.
Also, here's a link to a recent article about the building pictured above.
